Wedding contest
So...I didn't read the fine print on the wedding contest blog. I'm grateful to my coworker Ruben for pointing out the fine print of "all taxes are the applicants responsibility". Yikes! Do you know how much the taxes are on a $150,000 wedding???
$13,000!
No thank you! Silly me but I thought a free wedding meant FREE all round.
We did not make the top 10 list and I am grateful for that. I am grateful for the people that voted for us daily. Shows we have support.

Crazy two weeks!
It all started with my last day at SDBK on the 14th. Cynthia threw a "good-bye" party at the back of the cubicle. People in the office came by to eat the treats and say good-bye.

That evening Jason hosted a "you're leaving SDBK to start a new job" party at the boys house.
That same night my sister got engaged.

Wednesday the 19th I bought a new (for me) car

Monday the 24th I started my government job.

This was taken at orientation. Peter came in to say hi and one of the coordinators decided to take a picture.

New ventures
Since I've accepted the job at FDIC I'm thinking about change. Change with my lifestyle. Change with my vacations. Change in my hobbies.
I'd like to go to DC for Fourth of July. The fireworks and presentation involved in that must be spectacular!
I want to take a dance class. Hip-hop. Jazz. Salsa. Even striptease. I would love to be a part of a music video as a backup dancer, although I think I'm too old to even start that process but I can dream.
I still want to be a teacher. After, and during, the FDIC job I want to find a place I can complete my credential and possibly get a job. It may take 2 years or 4, who knows with this economy and what is happening with teacher layoffs.
Hopefully I won't think about these things but take action and do them!

OC Fair
I was online...browsing as I usually do and noticed a link for 2010 OC Fair Competitions. I searched How to submit and found the title for Crafts and Hobbies. I read the guidelines and the wheels started turning...
"what if I entered an item I've sewn? Can I do that?"
The wheels are still turning...

Work
I've been at my current job for 4 1/2 years. It serves its purpose to pay bills, chat with friends in the hallway and how ot sit still in my chair. Each day I learn something new.
Now I hope a new chapter starts for work.
I've applied to a govt job and am happy to say they like me.
BUT I have not received the final acceptance letter or a start date.
I'm currently in the background check process and I have nothing to worry about. I've never used drugs or had as much as a speeding tickets (parking is another issue), so all I need to do is wait.
And I'm doing it impatiently.
I just sent the information in yesterday and it could take as long as 2 months or as short as 2 weeks.
I'm still waiting...

Ring Shopping
I've found it!
No, I am not going to show it on this blog. It won't look the same on my finger and I have no idea where Jason will purchase it from.
Apparently he "has a guy". What does that mean?
I never expected this to happen...well I did, I knew it would, but I didn't know it'd feel so...weird. I mean, we're ring shopping...that means we're getting married..soon. Don't get me wrong I want to marry this man and I've known this since 3 months into dating him. I've never clicked with someone so much. I've never felt so much love and I never knew I could love someone as much as I do him! So there is no doubt in my mind I want to marry this guy. Excuse me. Man. (there is a difference)

Books

I like to read but due to my "can't say no" syndrome I don't have time for it. So I've decided to make a goal of reading at least one book, cover to cover, each month. I know it sounds slow and I should put 2-3 books on that list each month but I do not want to overdue it with this goal.
I will keep this posted on the right side of my blog. An idea I got from Lisa.
Goals during Christmas break recap
- sew and alter my (1) gray skirt, (2) Vogue new Years dress, (3) blue coat (yes, no and no)
- watch (1) fast and Furious (2) Sherlock Holmes (did and done!)
- swim at least 8 times in the next 12 days (I swam 4 times)
- start and finish photo albums of Christmas, New Years and Seattle (not done or started!)
- go ring shopping with Jason (didn't do or bring up)
So...I completed about half, actually less, than what I wanted to do. but you know I'm really glad I relaxed, enjoyed being with family and didn't get sick!

2010 "resolutions"
I didn't make any resolutions this year because well...they're ridiculous and will be the same ones I've made for the past years: lose weight, exercise more, eat better, limit my Diet Coke intake...all the same rubbish.
So...looking at Lisa's blog I decided to make a list of places I want to go. Here it is in no particular order:
Aquarium of the Pacific
La Brea tar pits
Fashion District in L.A.
San Diego Zoo
Pinks Hot Dogs
Randy's Donuts
that's all I have...for the moment.
